Day 10 Lolo Springs to Missoula

Rest Day Ahead. Lets Go!

Late start, short downhill ride, rest day ahead. Almost a perfect day! Almost because the hotel did not have any water available for our rooms. Luckily there was enough their breakfast buffet and our ever intrepid guides had enough to fill our bottles. The cool morning at our launch pad with an elevation of 5000 feet also helped. Some of us did take the waters the evening before. Both at the adjacent Hot Springs ‘facility” and the rustic bar next door. I can only really recommend the latter. The riders launched in a mass start that quickly broke up to easy spinning groups. I rode alone until I met up with Greg and Ian at the entrance to the cool little town Missoula. Most of us even skipped the rest stop.

I wasn’t ready for lunch upon arrival so randomly rode my bicycle about the town exploring. That was until I saw a nice looking grill with a patio. I ate a solo lunch. I didn’t want anyone to witness me devouring a generous portion of ground bison on two large roll halves. Another reason to love cycling. Also time to visit three bike stores. I decided to bling up my bike with new, thick bar tape and upgraded the tires to tubeless vittoria’s . I got a sweet ride now Joe! Not too much followed. We had a nice social hour and dinner with conversation centered on other crazy rides that my compatriots have accomplished. Oh yes and Ice Cream! Rest day tomorrow.

How is it you’re allowed to upgrade your bike? I thought they provided the bike? HM, I suppose it’s ‘yours until east coast, yeah?

Yes TrekTravel provides the perfectly good Domane SL7. Tires and bar tape are disposables so OK to upgrade. Anything to lift the bikes spirits for the work ahead!
