Lots of Happy Riders
Lots of motivation out there today. Was it the possibility of seeing the real Green Giant? NFL Opening Day? Visiting the SPAM Castle? or was it just getting one more day closer to the Right Coast? Whatever the reason, Mother Nature helped out with a very pleasant day.
We flew. At one time our pace line was cruising easily at 23 mph on the flat. For whatever reason this wasn’t fast enough for me, so I peeled off ahead while others slowed the pace line a bit to preserve legs for challenges ahead. Probably the smart move but the added time ahead of the pack did give me some time to explore a bit and even found some back road gravel in my detour to lunch. Sometimes a guy wants to see more than corn, soy beans and the wheel in front of you.
Sadly earlier we had to detour around the Jolly Green Giant although a couple slipped through before we were re-routed so at least some pictures were taken and shared. Otherwise an “easy” 80 plus miler with two century days ahead. On to Wisconsin tomorrow.

These posts are so great Bruce. I’m tempted to say something stupid like “wish I was there” but honestly, I’m enjoying the experience from home just fine!

Happy to see you target some roadside attractions! Our quests for them on road trips are motives to see the maximum back roads of americana.
