Day 29 Spring Green to Madison

I have visitors!

No lack of motivation today to ride to Madison. A shorter ride with a rest day ahead are always great motivators. It was another cool morning but with a later start, the warmers were all coming off before the first rest stop. Pat and I cruised along at an endurance pace with the occasional push up a rolling hill. Besides the usual and charming Wisconsin farms, we also encountered several spots sporting pumpkin decorations. We also viewed a large field sporting pumpkin games such as bowling with pumpkins. The same farm also was growing Christmas trees.

We pushed all the way to the capital for a lunch on the grounds there. This is the headquarters of Trek Bicycles and Trek Travel. The actual headquarters for the bicycle company is 20 miles away in Waterloo. We will visit there tomorrow. Tania Burke, the company owner of the travel company, met us and will ride out with us on Thursday. Some of the other staff were also there. Trek Travel seems to specialize in hiring bright, friendly people.

I had just enough time to do laundry before my guests arrived. Susan, Michael and Elle drove from Chicago after picking up Susan at the airport there. It was great fun having them here and introducing them to the gang. I’m looking forward to exploring a little bit of Madison with them tomorrow.
