Day 33 Holland to Marshall

A Pleasant Day in Southwest Michigan

So when does a 90 plus mile day become an easy day? Thank you SW Michigan for your great fall weather, rolling hills and beautiful lakes. The day seemed to flow easily to the very end. I mostly soloed today after a couple of easy days and yesterday’s boat ride. We did have a couple of riders “touch wheels” in one of the pace line but am happy to report that the crash did not result in any serious injuries. It is always a concern when paramedics are involved but all is well. Our rider-patient was released and transported to the next hotel for a little extra rest.

It occurs to me that although the rider will not complete “Every Friggin’ Inch” riding over 3000 miles in consecutive days is still something that few will accomplish. I don’t know anyone outside of this group who has done such a crazy thing.

We are just outside of Battle Creek. Michigan, the home of Kellog’s cornflakes. I remember the TV commercials that always emphasized that fact. It took me back. One of our riders is from Kalamazoo which is also very close. GPS guidance not needed for Sandy!

The restaurant was a hit tonight. It is a combination performance venue, eclectic rustic bar, and outdoor restaurant. The food was good even if the service was a bit uneven. I! had more than my usual zero beers but what are you going to do when others are buying one for you? Thanks Doyle and Dan! Tomorrow is a biggie at over 120 miles so lights out now for some sleep.

I missed the car museum! It had an American muscle car focus. I guess I will have to cycle there another time!
