Day 36 Oberlin to Newbury

Where Dale gives me the VIP tour and then tows me home

Today I was lucky to ride with a good friend and tour guide, Dale. Who knew that northeast Ohio is so interesting and beautiful? You would know if your tour guide had a vast knowledge of the history and beauty of the area. We went off the proscribed route for a little extra riding and sight seeing although even the expanded ride left me wanting more. Only so much time available when one needs to get across the country. Guide Brian also joined us and it is possible some of the expanded route will be included in future trips. Thank you Dale!

I also was able to sleep in a bed not in a hotel for the first time in many days. Wendy is an outstanding host and pretty handy with a Paia pan as well and the food served was almost as good as the company I enjoyed. Dale was kind enough to whisk me back to Newbury the next morning to join up with my fellow cross country colleagues. The day threatened rain towards the end but promised a shorter route (60 miles) before heading into a stretch of three 100 mile days. Some challenges ahead but the end is something that we think about now.

The pleasure was all ours, Bruce. Thanks to your Trek Travel team for all the kindness – and extra food!
And Godspeed to you all.
