Day 24 Mitchell to Sioux Falls SD

“Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey…” -Luke Bryan

A lighter day in mileage but a gloomier weather day. Cyclists are never happy. First its too hot and then its too cold and rainy! Deep down one and all were glad for a little rain and chill. With just a good raincoat and knee warmers it was actually pleasant. Rainy but not I’m going to die in a puddle type of rain. Not too much chit chat amongst the ranks but no one asking for ice either.

We all really felt for guide Megan who put out another of her wonderful feasts for lunch, but the mood was to dine and dash, some without even taking a seat. The call of a warm shower shortly ahead was too strong to resist. I vaguely remember visiting Sioux Falls as a kid. My father’s sister lived here with her husband.

The end of the ride snaked us through several neighborhoods and I was hoping to spark a memory of recognition but not to be. Tomorrow cooler but dry and a longer day on the bike. Making progress! Not many photos or video to share so please enjoy the pet section of the video!

Alas we did lose another of our mates for the ride today. Apparently the Gl bug has struck again and he was a DNS. Hopefully we will see him out there tomorrow but on the average it seems like a two or a three day break. We will need to be even more vigilant with our group meals and breaks.
